Grocery Store

So I was in the grocery store after work today, Safeway to be exact, purchasing some odds and ends that I am out of and as I was strolling down the chip aisle looking for anything that appealed to me, I became disappointed. Here I stood in front of upwards of likely 50 different kinds of chips to buy, and amongst all of them none seemed to pique my interest. I wondered what the problem was, and then it hit me. I wanted THUNDER CRUNCH. I know I have probably said it before, but what the hell ever happened to that chip? Those were fucking awesome! I wonder if there is a Facebook group out there dedicated to resurrecting Thunder Crunch.

On another delightfully hilarious note, it seems that this particular Safeway recently changed the aisles so now everything is in a different place. I guess it was a bit of an oversight when they did rearrange the aisles to place the diet shakes and weight loss supplements directly across the aisle from the cookies and junk food?

  1. Oh goddamn you now I can’t stop thinking about these chips.

  2. I googled this “Thunder Crunch” and found a few sites, as well as “Whatever happened to Thunder Crunch Chips?” on Yahoo Answers. Sadly, there was no definite answer and none of the sites had links to purchase this mythical chip.
    I did, however, find this
    http://www.olddutchfoods.ca/eng/humpty_potatosticks.html
I could be wrong.. but from the 2 minutes of research I did, I gleaned that Old Dutch Ltd. manufactured Thunder Crunch. Their website lists these potato sticks made by their Humpty Dumpty brand, as well as a “Dutch Crunch” made by the Dutch division.

  3. I remember the packaging and branding so well, but the chip itself, I do not! Strange..

  4. screw Thunder Crunch, it’s all about Hockey Chips. Who remembers those? The chips put out by the NHL for about . .. six months. They had a mesquite BBQ flavour, no wait it was honey BBQ, to DIE for.

went really good with beer and a hockey game, yeah.
